PIL strengthens India–East Africa connectivity with new Imara Express service
.
Pacific International Lines (PIL) is expanding its Africa network with the launch of Imara Express (IMX), a dedicated weekly service connecting India with key East African markets.
The first sailing is scheduled to depart Nhava Sheva on 23 September 2026, with the following port rotation:
Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Dar Es Salam – Mombasa – Nhava Sheva
The new service will offer direct weekly sailings, competitive transit times and more reliable connections between major production hubs in India and consumer markets in East Africa. It will complement PIL’s existing Asia–Africa network while giving shippers greater flexibility and more options to strengthen their supply chains.
“Imara” means strong, dependable and resilient in Swahili—reflecting PIL’s focus on delivering reliable shipping solutions as trade flows between India and East Africa continue to develop.
According to William Ho, PIL’s General Manager of Long-Haul Services, IMX will provide customers with a more comprehensive network package and wider market access across the two regions.
