A major gantry crane has reportedly collapsed at Zhejiang Xin’ou Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Sanmen County, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province.

Photos circulating within the industry show the large red gantry crane severely tilted and collapsed across the shipyard area, with nearby facilities and materials also appearing to have been damaged.

The incident comes just days after Typhoon Dolphin made landfall in Taizhou on 9 August, bringing extremely strong winds and heavy rainfall to coastal Zhejiang.

At this stage, however, no official statement has been identified from the shipyard or local authorities confirming the exact cause of the collapse or whether there were any casualties.

The connection between the accident and the typhoon therefore remains subject to official confirmation.

Xinde Marine News will continue to follow the situation and provide updates when further verified information becomes available.
