On July 16, Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding, China Shipbuilding Trading (CST), ICBC Financial Leasing and COSCO SHIPPING Development-related entities signed agreements for the construction of four 210,000 DWT bulk carriers.

The vessels will feature methanol- and ammonia-ready designs, meeting IMO Tier III emission requirements and EEDI Phase III standards. The ships will be built by Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding.

Upon delivery, the vessels are expected to be leased to COSCO SHIPPING Bulk for operation, supporting the company’s large-scale dry bulk transportation capacity.

The project follows COSCO SHIPPING Development’s previous investment in 21万吨级 bulk carriers, including four vessels ordered at Beihai Shipbuilding in 2025, further strengthening the group’s “shipbuilding–leasing–operation” model for fleet renewal and green transition.
