Evergreen Marine has tightened its sanctions compliance policy by refusing to accept any shipper-owned containers (SOCs) that could expose the carrier to sanctions risks. Under the updated requirements, customers must ensure that neither the container owner nor the container prefix owner is a sanctioned party or an entity established under the laws of Iran, North Korea, Cuba, or Syria.

The carrier has also published a list of prohibited container prefixes for reference, while stressing that the list is non-exhaustive and subject to updates. Evergreen further reserves the right to request additional information or documentation to verify container ownership and may reject bookings or shipments if compliance requirements are not met.

The move reflects growing compliance pressure across the container shipping industry as carriers strengthen sanctions screening and due diligence procedures amid an increasingly complex global regulatory environment.
