SPG makes progress in advancing trade facilitation cooperation in Yellow River Basin

Shandong Port Group (SPG), the world's largest port conglomerate in terms of cargo capacity, attended the Forum on International Trade Facilitation Cooperation in the Yellow River Basin, which was held during the fifth China International Import Expo on Nov 6.

Li Fengli, general manager of SPG, delivered a speech at the forum. Li spoke of SPG's practices and achievements in promoting trade facilitation and coordinated cooperation among cities and regions in the Yellow River Basin.

Over the past three years since its establishment, SPG has opened a total of 328 shipping routes, including 234 foreign trade routes, which is currently the most among ports in northern China. It boasts 31 inland ports and 81 sea-rail combined transport routes, and the number of sea-rail combined transport routes has ranked first in the country for many years in a row, according to official data.

The implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or RCEP, has offered more convenience for economic and trade cooperation. SPG, which aims to serve as a bridgehead for China to deepen cooperation with Japan, South Korea and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, has leveraged its advantages to build a marine highway linking RCEP member countries, and construct an international logistics channel for trade exchanges. It has opened 119 direct routes to RCEP countries.

As a shipping outlet in the Yellow River Basin, SPG has made great efforts to promote the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin by expanding its role as a pivotal platform and strengthen cooperation with cities and enterprises in the Yellow River Basin.

SPG also continues to strive to advance the connectivity of sea ports, river ports, inland ports and airports and promote multimodal transport. As an engine for port-industry-city integration, SPG has focused on three-area integration — port areas, industrial parks and urban areas — to launch inland ports and logistics industrial parks along the Yellow River Basin.

As a link for coordinated development, SPG has worked together with domestic and overseas leading port counterparts, deepened collaboration with partners such as COSCO Shipping, Maersk and China Railway Jinan Group, and established business ties with over 600 major enterprises along the Yellow River Basin as part of its efforts to boost the integrated development of industries.

Going forward, SPG plans to further leverage its function as a window of opening-up, actively smooth out trade channels and trade cooperation to make greater contributions to serving the Belt and Road Initiative and the new development pattern.
