SPG posts outstanding numbers during National Day holiday

Frontline staff members at Shandong Port Group (SPG) worked hard to promote port operations while carrying out epidemic prevention and control protocols during the National Day holiday, which took place from Oct 1 to 7. The port group's overall cargo throughput increased 6.8 percent year-on-year, and its container volume rose 8.5 percent year-on-year. Both of which set records.

The Qingdao Port Container Terminal was bustling with 8,000-twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) and above container ships during the seven day holiday.

The port's average quay crane efficiency hit 32.4 moves per hour during the container ship MATHILDE MAERSK's handling operations, completing the vessel handling 1.3 hours ahead of schedule. With the ship MARIT MAERSK's productivity reaching 300 transfers per hour, the port set a new record for MAERSK's European service. Additionally, it reached a record high by handling 124 oversize containers for the ship CMA CGM COCHIN.

The dry bulk cargo operations at Qingdao Port also went well. Between the ship NANSHA HONOR and Shandong Feiyue, the Qiangang Branch of SPG set a record of 53,000 metric tons for single-ship direct mixing, saving 12 hours.

It is expected that Rizhao Port's cargo volume rise 5.1 percent year-on-year, and the port refreshed six various production records during the break. Meanwhile, it handled 173 vessels, an increase of 5.5 percent year-on-year, including 25 mega-vessels, an increase of 8.7 percent year-on-year. Furthermore, the port set two records for loading 4,400 wagons daily, an increase of 30 percent year-on-year, and loading 3,400 wagons with iron ore daily an increase of 43.5 percent year-on-year.

It is expected that Bohai Bay Port will handle 480,000 tons of cargos, an increase of 25 percent year-on-year, and 6,000 TEUs of containers, which is the same as the previous year.
