SPG holds 2022 Qingdao Land-Sea Linkage Seminar

The 2022 Qingdao Land-Sea Linkage Seminar kicked off in Qingdao on Aug 15, which was hosted by the Shandong Provincial People's Government, and jointly organized by the Qingdao Municipal People's Government, Shandong Transportation Department and Shandong Port Group (SPG).

The event, themed "smoothing circulation and breaking new ground", is poised to help forge an international corridor that connects the eastern and western regions of the country, and links the land and the sea. It also aims to help raise China's opening up to a higher level with wider coverage and scope, and help SPG better serve the national strategies.

Over the past three years, SPG has given full play to its geographical advantages as a logistics hub to expand its comprehensive service capacity. It has stepped up efforts to help promote the establishment of a new development pattern by strengthening connectivity overseas and over land.

Despite the pandemic, the company placed first and third internationally for its cargo throughput in 2021, which exceeded 1.5 billion metric tons, and its container volume topped 34 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), which showcases that SPG has maintained its distinctive status as a logistics hub in serving the Belt and Road Initiative, and the RCEP agreement.

Based on SPG's leading role and comprehensive strengths among the port and shipping sector, the China Economic Information Service  (CEIS), a subsidiary of China's State-run news agency Xinhua, formulated and released the international shipping hub development index during the event. CEIS also released the Xinhua - Shandong Port Bulk Commodity Index and the RCEP Maritime Trade Index in collaboration with SPG.

A series of cooperation agreements were signed at the event, which will give full play to SPG's role as an important platform for gathering national, global, and industrial supply chains, and jointly undertake the responsibility of ensuring the stability of the supply chains and promoting the high-quality development of the region.

To establish the cooperation mechanism among customs, ports, railways and zones along the Yellow River and build a modern logistics system characterized by "channel+hub+network", SPG has worked together with 24 units and enterprises such as customs, railways, inland ports and free trade zones to launch the initiative of serving ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River basin.

During the event, SPG held the promotion and signing activity for key projects. Its subsidiaries - Qingdao Port, Rizhao Port, Yantai Port and Bohai Bay Port - signed agreements related to port development. Its 11 business segments - Ports Construction Group, Industry-city Integration Group, Logistics Group, Cruise Culture and Tourism Group, Trade Group, Overseas Group and Vocational Education Group - signed agreements related to emerging industries.
