The cargo ship Sebring Express, operated by ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd (ZIM), on Nov 2 docked at the Dagang area of Qingdao Port – the major port which is a subsidiary of Shandong Port Group or SPG, based in the city of Qingdao, in East China's Shandong province.
The arrival of the vessel marked the official launch of ZIM's first ro-ro service at Qingdao Port. With the new ro-ro service, the port's export business for vehicles via ro-ro transport is projected to enter a new stage of integrated and rapid growth.
According to port officials, the Sebring Express loaded up a total of 8,000 cubic meters of mobile machinery at the port, with the products destined to be transferred to the Red Sea region.
It is expected that ZIM's second ro-ro ship bound for the Red Sea will arrive at the Dagang Branch (the Dangang area of Qingdao Port) by mid-Nov. This will see the ro-ro service gradually expand, propelling Qingdao Port's export business for vehicles via ro-ro transport into the fast lane of development.
