Chinese daily crude steel output rises 0.36% in mid-Jul


Chinese key steel mills saw a mild rise of 0.36% in daily output of crude steel in mid-July (July 11-20) compared to previous ten days, according to data from the China Iron and Steel Association.
 
The association said these steel mills produced 2.14 million tonnes of crude steel averagely each day during the period, an increase of 5.99% from a year ago.
 
Daily production of pig iron averaged 1.91 million tonnes, inching down 0.42% from ten days ago but up 6.29% from the year prior, while that of finished steel increased by 3.0% from ten days ago to 2.04 million tonnes, up 6.88% year on year.
 
During July 11-20, key steel mills churned out a total 21.38 million tonnes of crude steel, 19.09 million tonnes of pig iron, 20.39 million tonnes of finished steel and 3.17 million tonnes of coke.
 
During the same period, China was estimated to produce a total 29.81 million tonnes of crude steel, with daily output up 0.15% from ten days ago and up 4.82% on the year to 2.98 million tonnes.
 
Total output of pig iron in China was estimated at 25.11 million tonnes, with daily output at 2.51 million tonnes. Total finished steel output was expected to reach 36.73 million tonnes, with daily output up 1.49% from ten days ago and up 6.74% on the year to 3.67 million tonnes.
 
As of July 20, key steel mills held 14.38 million tonnes of finished steel stocks, up 5.63% from ten days ago and jumping 50.87% from early this year.
