Expansion project of Guodian coal terminal at the central Suqian port area in China's eastern Jiangsu province passed the acceptance test on July 17, according to the Suqian Department of Transportation.
It is a dedicated terminal for supplying coal to Guodian Suqian 2×600MW power generation units, and is an important coal handling facility for power plants of Guodian.
Its berth length is 324 meters, and the length of waiting berth is 400 meters.
Besides the partial renovation of the original terminal, four new 2,000-tonne-level coal berths and corresponding waiting berths and auxiliary facilities will be built, with a designed throughput capacity of 4.69 million tonnes per annum.
The terminal project was completed in September 2018, involving a total investment of 170 million yuan ($24.3 million).
The terminal uses the Siwertell screw ship unloader manufactured by Sweden MacGregor for coal handling. It is the first dock at an inland port to use this type of handling equipment.
