Nansha cruise ship port unveils mega berth

Guangzhou's Nansha, home to the local cruise ship industry, unveiled the China’s largest berth on Sunday.

The project is located in Guangdong free trade zone where the cruise ship industry is a key development area.

At a total 1,600 meters in length, the port is designed to include four berths for ships ranging from 100,000 to 225,000 gross tons.

Phase one includes a berth for cruise ships of 225,000 gross tons and another for vessels of 100,000 gross tons, with a combined length of 770 meters.

It will also include a new passenger terminal, with a total floor area of 60,000 square meters and an estimated annual capacity of 750,000 travelers.

Nine cruise lines operate from the international cruise terminal, destined for one of 12 destinations including Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines, making it home to one of the largest numbers of cruise lines in China.
