China's Tangshan port logged 247.93 million tonnes in cargo handling over January-May this year, a year-on-year increase of 8.11%.
Coal handling stood at 95.01 million tonnes in the first five months, increasing 41.88% from the preceding year, while steel handling was 21.97 million tonnes, down by 12.19% on the year.
Throughput of iron ore dropped 8.77% year on year to 91.98 million tonnes during the period, while that of oil, natural gas and relevant products surged 30.15% from the year prior to 9.89 million tonnes.
Over January-May, cargo handling stood at 128.43 million tonnes at Caofeidian port, one of the three major port areas of Tangshan port, up by 17.41% year on year.
Of this, handling of coal stood at 43.62 million tonnes in the first five months, soaring 100.72% from the year prior, while that of steel dropped 15.45% on the year to 14.27 million tonnes.
Throughput of iron ore slid 6.47% year on year to 50.25 million tonnes during the period, while that of oil, natural gas and relevant products increased 31.35% to 9.72 million tonnes.
Jingtang port, its another port area, reported a slight drop of 0.36% in cargo handling to 119.49 million tonnes over January-May.
At the port, coal handling increased 13.61% on the year to 51.39 million tonnes, while steel handling slid 5.42% to 7.69 million tonnes.
