China’s shipbuilding industry has made significant strides in the development of green marine power solutions.

Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute Secures Type Approval for Ammonia Dual-Fuel Engine

The institute’s high-power 270mm bore ammonia/diesel dual-fuel engine has received type approval from China Classification Society (CCS). Featuring an independently developed ammonia fuel injection system, electronic common rail system, and electronic management system, the engine boasts an ammonia substitution rate of over 85%, showcasing China’s growing innovation in alternative marine fuels.

WinGD 10X92DF-M-1.0 Methanol Engine Successfully Passes Factory Acceptance Test

The WinGD 10X92DF-M-1.0 methanol engine, built by CSSC-MES Diesel Co., Ltd., has successfully completed factory acceptance and type approval testing. This main engine, designed for a 16,000 TEU COSCO Shipping container vessel, enables efficient and stable operation in both diesel and methanol modes, meeting the diverse needs of global shipping.

CSSC Power’s Methanol Dual-Fuel Engine Passes Type Approval Test

CSSC Power’s CPGC-MAN L21/31DF-M methanol dual-fuel engine has completed type approval testing. With power ranging from 1,000kW to 1,980kW, it is well-suited for PCTC, container ships, MPVs, OSVs, PSVs, fuel supply vessels, and chemical tankers, advancing the adoption of methanol as a cleaner marine fuel.

CSSC Power Delivers First Ethane Dual-Fuel Low-Speed Engine

The CPGC-MAN B&W 6G60ME-C9.5-GIE-HPSCR ethane dual-fuel low-speed engine, manufactured by CSSC Power and delivered at Hudong Heavy Machinery’s Zhenjiang facility, will power a 99,000 cbm Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC) built by Jiangnan Shipyard for Tianjin Southwest Maritime. Notably, CSSC Power has independently designed and built China’s first ethane supply system for low-speed engine testing, reinforcing its commitment to alternative fuel solutions.

CSSC Engine Successfully Completes Methanol Dual-Fuel Main Engine Testing

The 7S60ME-C10.5-LGIM-EGRBP methanol dual-fuel low-speed engine, built by CSSC Engine Dalian Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., has successfully passed acceptance tests and will be installed on a 9,300 PCTC RoRo vessel operated by China Merchants RoRo. This advanced engine technology significantly improves thermal efficiency, reduces fuel consumption, and cuts emissions by up to 50% NOx, 97% SOx, 90% particulate matter, and 5% greenhouse gases, ensuring compliance with stringent global emission regulations.

These advancements mark China’s growing leadership in green marine propulsion, accelerating the industry’s transition towards low-carbon and sustainable shipping.
