Sudden Accident! The 300,000 DWT VLOC is seriously listing or could sink!


On March 31, 2017, a large ore ship named STELLAR DAISY sank on the Atlantic Ocean, a distance of approximately 2500km from the land. The accident left 22 seafarers missing and only 2 seafarers survived. Shocked the global shipping community!
 
On the 25th, another 300,630 DWT VLOC belonging to the same shipowner company Polaris Shipping suffered another major accident in the sea area near Brazil sparking fears that the ship could sink.  And 20 seafarers were evacuated urgently.

The ship, Stellar Banner, began developing a severe list to starboard Tuesday evening around 9:30 p.m. local time after departing the Vale-owned Ponta da Madeira terminal in São Luís, Brazil.
 
According to local media reports, there may have been a crack in the ship's hull.
 
Vale said in a statement that the bow of the ship suffered damage after leaving the PDM terminal, but did not specify the cause of the damage.
 
Vale introduced, "There are also reports to Vale that 20 crew members have been safely evacuated, and the captain has taken measures to intentionally stranded nearly 100 kilometers off the coast of St. Louis.
 
This 300,660 dwt giant cargo ship was built by Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea and belongs to the Britannia P & I Club, and classified by the Korean KR classification society.
