In 2025, Zhoushan Changhong International Industry has achieved a remarkable "order boom" right at the beginning of the year, thanks to its strong construction capabilities.
Recently, Changhong International has successfully secured a total of 18 container shipbuilding contracts from two well - known European shipowners. Specifically, it has signed a 4+2+2 vessel order for 22,000-TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, and a 10-vessel order for 11,400-TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships with TMS Group , which belongs to George Economou, one of the largest shipping companies in Greece.
The 22,000 - TEU LNG dual - fuel container ships ordered by MSC are the largest and most advanced container ship types currently under construction by Changhong International. This is another cooperation between the two parties following projects of 10 vessels of 11,500-TEU, 10 vessels of 10,300-TEU, and 12 vessels of 19,000-TEU LNG dual-fuel large-scale container ships. Changhong International has become MSC's largest shipbuilding partner globally.
The new shipbuilding project signed with George Economou represents the first-time cooperation between the two sides. This order is also George Economou's second batch of container ships ordered to re-enter the container market after a four-year hiatus, and it is his first investment in building dual-fuel container ships. As one of the largest ship operators in Greece, TMS owns a total of 7 companies covering multiple sectors such as dry bulk, oil transportation, liquefied gas, and offshore engineering, with a fleet of over 100 vessels, mostly oil tankers, bulk carriers, and LNG carriers.
Both of these two container ship projects are independently developed by CIMC ORIC and have complete intellectual property rights. Among them, the 22,000-TEU container ship has a total length of 366 meters, a breadth of 61.3 meters, and a depth of 33.2 meters; the 11,400-TEU container ship has a total length of 299 meters, a breadth of 48.2 meters, and a depth of 27 meters.
The successful signing of this batch of new shipbuilding contracts demonstrates Changhong International's technical strength and production capacity in the field of ultra-large LNG dual-fuel container ships, marking that Changhong International has joined the ranks of first-class domestic shipbuilding enterprises. With these two orders, the company ranks third globally in the backlog of orders in the container ship segment.
