On November 23, 2024, Xiehai Shipping Group celebrated a major milestone in its fleet development. During a ceremony at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in Yangzhou, the Group's new 211,000 DWT bulk carrier, XHALOT (Hull No. N1157), was successfully named, marking the expansion of its fleet to over 3 million DWT.
This milestone highlights not only the growth of Xiehai Shipping but also its commitment to green, low-carbon, and smart shipping solutions. The XHALOT is a cutting-edge Newcastlemax bulk carrier, built to the latest environmental standards. Designed with energy efficiency and sustainability in mind, the vessel features optimized hull lines, a high-efficiency propeller, and a shaft generator, resulting in a fuel consumption of just 43 tons per day and an EEDI rating in the third phase, as well as an A-level CII rating.
The vessel’s design incorporates numerous innovative features to reduce operational and maintenance costs, ensuring greater competitiveness in the global market. As a result, XHALOT becomes a crucial part of Xiehai’s strategy to build a modern and environmentally responsible fleet.
The naming ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Qu Liang, Party Secretary of Everbright Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., Mr. Chen Jiangguang, General Manager of Shandong Marine Group Co., Ltd., and Mr. Lu Yanhui, Vice General Manager of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry. The event also saw the participation of Mr. Wang An, Chairman of Xiehai Shipping Group.
The financing for this new vessel was provided by
Everbright Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. and Shandong Huachen Financing Leasing Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shandong Marine Group, further underscoring the collaboration between leading financial and shipping players in China’s maritime industry.
With this achievement, Xiehai Shipping Group has not only reached a new development milestone but is also poised for further international expansion. The company is focused on enhancing its fleet structure, exploring innovative shipping logistics models, and optimizing its operational capabilities to become a leading global player in maritime transport and logistics.
