October 21th, Dalian Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, delivered the MSC Maria Cristina, the first in a series of eight 16,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships for MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company.
This 366m vessel is equipped with the world’s largest B-type LNG fuel tank (13,000 m³) and marks a breakthrough with its fully self-developed LNG fuel tank technology, closing a critical tech gap in China.
The ship's innovative design—featuring dual-fuel engines, Icer-Diesel systems, and optimized energy-saving measures—ensures it's safe, economical, and environmentally friendly. The project team's remarkable coordination cut the LNG fuel tank bunkering process time by 66 hours.
