This is China first methanol-fuelled tanker!

On June 20, China's first methanol dual-fuel powered tanker was delivered in Nansha, Guangzhou. Stena Pro Patria is independently designed and built by Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of CSSC. It is the first 49,900 DWT methanol-fuelled tanker, equipped with the world's leading methanol dual-fuel drive system.
 
It is understood that Methanol is already available at more than 100 ports worldwide, including at all major bunkering hubs. Compared with LNG, it is more convenient to store and transport, and the cost of infrastructure transformation is lower. Methanol is rapidly developing into the most feasible, least emission and lowest cost alternative to Marine fuel.
 
A total of 6 of 49,900 DWT methanol-fuelled tankers have been ordered this time, two further MR vessels, the Stena Pro Marine and Stena Promise, are also due for delivery later this year.
 
It is reported that green ship is a development trend of the shipping market at present. In recent years, GSI has carried out the development and construction of green ship, and is currently the ship enterprise with the most orders of dual-fuel liquid cargo ship in China.
