Jiangnan delivers the first 15000TEU dual-fuel LNG container ship to CMA CGM


On September 28, the 15000TEU dual-fuel LNG-powered ultra-large container ship "CMA CGM PATAGONIA" built by China Shipbuilding Trading and Jiangnan Shipyard for CMA CGM was successfully christened and delivered, the ship will be put into the Mediterranean route.
 
In March 2019, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, China State Shipbuilding Corporation and CMA CGM signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with 5 dual-fuel powered ships (contracted by Jiangnan Shipyard) and 5 traditional fuel powered ships (contracted by Hudong Zhonghua) for a total of 10 15000TEU ultra-large container ship construction contract.
 
This series of ships was developed and designed by MARIC, with a total length of 366 meters, a width of 51 meters, a service speed of 22 knots, a carrying capacity of 15,254 TEU, and a capacity of 1,800 reefer containers.
 
This type of ship uses membrane fuel tanks, dual-fuel propulsion, uses LNG as the main fuel, adopts WinGD dual-fuel engine, is equipped with GTT MARK III membrane fuel tanks, and has a capacity of 14,000 cbm, which can support ships to and from Asia and Europe routes.
 
The generators and boilers of this type of ship are also in the form of dual fuels. Compared with traditional fuel oil containers, it can reduce 20% of carbon dioxide, 85% of nitrogen oxides and 99% of sulfur emissions, greatly reducing environmental pollution, and meet the most stringent emission standards in the world.
