COSCO SHIPPING, Sinopec and CSSC join hands to promote LNG transportation cooperation

On March 17, COSCO SHIPPING held a video conference with Sinopec and China State Shipbuilding Corporation to discuss further deepening cooperation in the field of LNG transportation and ensuring national energy transportation security.

Wan Min, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING, Ma Yongsheng, Chairman of Sinopec, and Lei Fanpei, Chairman of CSSC attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

The APLNG project that the three groups have jointly participated in is a natural gas trading project signed by Sinopec and Australia Pacific LNG in 2011, and is currently the largest LNG project in Australia.

As a supporting transportation project for this project, a consortium formed by Shanghai LNG, Sinopec Kantons and MOL, affiliated to COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation, jointly ordered 6 LNG ships at Hudong-Zhonghua. The contract was signed in April 2013. By May 2018, the last ship was completed and delivered, which took 5 years.

The APLNG project promotes the development of LNG transportation, shipbuilding and other related industries, realizes the win-win cooperation of Chinese petrochemical enterprises, shipping enterprises, and shipbuilding enterprises, and effectively guarantees the national energy transportation security.
