On September 14, Wison (Nantong) Heavy Industry won the bid to build the
hulls of two floating nuclear power stations for Rosatom
at a price of $226 million.
According to the bidding agreement, Wison will deliver the hull of the first floating nuclear power station by
October 2, 2023, and the hull of the second floating nuclear power station by
February 2, 2024.
Rosatom plans to build
four floating nuclear power stations, the first two of which will each have
a capacity of 100 MW and a single displacement of 19,100 tons, at a total cost of 140 billion rubles ($1.93 billion).
Russia is accelerating the construction of floating nuclear power stations in recent years. In May last year, the
world's first floating nuclear power station "Akademik Lomonosov" was put into commercial operation, which is also "the northernmost nuclear power station in the world".
Wison Offshore Nantong base was put into operation in 2006 and can provide solutions for large and medium-sized floating LNG equipment. In July 2017, Wison Offshore delivered the
world's first FLNG, and in December of the same year, Wison delivered
China's first FSRU.
