Jinling Shipyard signs 4 LNG-powered ro-ro ships orders

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) and Japan's NYK jointly announced an order for the construction of four 7,000 vehicle LNG-powered ro-ro ships.

The total length of this series is about 199.90 meters, the width is 38.00 meters, the loading capacity is 7000 vehicles, the total tonnage is 72,800 dwt. The series will be delivered from 2022 to 2023 and will be mainly deployed on routes in Europe and the Middle East.

The series of ro-ro ships signed this time will be the first ship in the world to use WinGD X-DF2.0 iCER as the main engine.

Through the use of LNG fuel and a number of environmental technologies, approximately 99% of sulfur oxides, 86% of nitrogen oxides and 50% of methane emissions will be reduced, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In 2019, the two parties signed the construction contract of two 12,470 DWT heavy lifting vessels for the first time, and the construction node of the series vessels was smoothly promoted.

Jinling Shipyard was highly recognized by NYK and won the second in-depth cooperation between the two parties.
