Taiwan Sep LNG imports rise to 5-mth high


Taiwan's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports in September rose to a five-month high since April this year, according to Taiwan trade statistics.
 
In September, Taiwan imported 1.65 million tonnes of LNG, rising 20.47% year on year and up 8.56% from August.
 
Taiwan imported the most LNG from Australia, reaching 575,700 tonnes in the month, jumping 162.6% year on year and up 91.19% from August, while imports from Qatar increased 6.14% on the year and 7.05% on the month to 473,000 tonnes.
 
Shipments from Russia were 203,000 tonnes, surging 57.34% from the year prior but down 23.57% month on month, while imports from Papua New Guinea jumped 94.02% on the month to 150,000 tonnes.
 
Taiwan's September LNG import value came in at $413 million, declining 36.71% from the year prior but rising 12.92% from August. That translated to an average price of $250.35/t, sliding 47.46% from a year ago but up 4.01% from August.
 
In the first nine months, Taiwan imported a total 13.60 million tonnes of LNG, marking an increase of 10.64% year on year. The value declined 16.96% to $4.67 billion.
