CSSC Chengxi will build two LNG - powered MR product tankers for France's Louis Dreyfus, with a total value of about $86 million.
CSSC Leasing placed an order to build two 50,000DWT dual-fuel MR product tankers in CSSC Chengxi, each with a cost of about US $43 million.
The ships will be chartered for five years on a bareboat chartering contract to Louis Dreyfus, the commodities trader.
According to Lloyd's Register (LR), this LNG powered design can reduce CO2 emissions by 25% in accordance with current IMO regulations
This means that the design is far more efficient than current regulations and already exceeds IMO standards, which will take effect in 2025.
Clarkson's figures show that CSSC Chengxi currently has 25 orders of 1.4372m DWT ships, including bulk carriers, chemical tankers, chip carriers, feeder container ships and multi-purpose vessels, with delivery dates extending through 2022.
