Chinese shipbuilder Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry said it has delivered a 28,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas carrier.
This is the first-ever LNG vessel built and delivered by Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry’s Dalian shipyard, the shipbuilder said in a statement.
Dalian Inteh Group placed an order for the small-scale LNG carrier back in 2013 but the delivery of the vessel had been delayed several times.
Now the vessel will serve a joint venture consisting of Hong Kong-listed VPower Group and China National Technical Import & Export Corporation.
The two companies are developing LNG-powered plants in Myanmar and the newbuild LNG carrier will serve as a shuttle vessel for these facilities.
The LNG carrier CNTIC VPower Global, previously named Qi Yuan, is 176.8 meters long and 27.6 meters wide.
It features three type C LNG tanks with the largest tank having a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters.
The vessel is powered by dual-fuelled Wartsila engines.
