CNPC, one leading energy firm in China, plans to build seven new gas storage clusters to boost storage capacity, Securities Times reported.
These storages will be located at Shengping, Pingdingshan, Huai'an, Chuzhou, Liaohelei, Lujuhe at Dagang and Baiju in Zhejiang province.
By 2025, CNPC expects to have natural gas storage capacity of 15 billion cubic meters, able to meet 10% of the peak seasonal demand.
CNPC produced a record 7.41 billion cubic meters of gas from storages last winter, or 4.88% of the total sales, to cope with a severe supply crunch driven by a national coal-to-gas push.
