China's first shale gas liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant (phase I) was built recently in Fuling, a city of Chongqing municipal city in southwestern China.
The plant, jointly operated by Sinopec and the municipal government for commercial purposes, is expected to produce 3 million cubic meters of LNG each day.
It will be divided into three phases, and the established phase I has capacity of 1 million cubic meters each day.
The plant serves to process the shale gas that produced from Fuling Shale gas field into LNG and supply it to gas stations in Chongqing, Guizhou, Hunan and some neighboring regions as a clean replacement source for vehicles and ships fuel.
The establishment of the plant will boost efficient utilization of shale gas, the lengthening of shale gas chains, secure natural gas supply for Chongqing and neighboring areas and reduce pollution, said a head of Fuling Shale Gas Co., Ltd.
