As the new year begins, Winning International Group, a global leader in dry bulk shipping and mining logistics, has set a strong pace for fleet expansion.
The company has welcomed its 52nd self-owned bulk carrier, the "Sunny River," while also deploying 17 state-of-the-art offshore transshipment units to the waters of Guinea.
Fleet Capacity Surpasses 10 Million DWT
Winning International Group has announced that the newly delivered "Sunny River" is a 208,000 DWT Capesize vessel, pushing the company’s self-owned fleet capacity beyond a historic milestone of 10 million DWT.
The vessel, formerly named Sikamia, was previously owned by Greek shipping company
Minerva Marine Inc. and was acquired for $29 million by a Chinese buyer—now confirmed to be Winning International.
As the world’s largest bauxite shipping service provider, Winning continues to expand its modern fleet to strengthen its dominance in the Africa-Asia mining transport corridor, ensuring efficient and stable long-haul shipping capacity for key commodities like bauxite and iron ore.
Innovative Offshore Transshipment Units Deployed in Guinea
In logistics infrastructure, Winning International has deployed a series of offshore transshipment units (OTUs) designed for efficient bulk cargo handling, including bauxite and iron ore.
Among the newly added assets, the floating transshipment unit (FTU) "WINNING SIMANDOU 1" stands out as a key enabler for the Simandou Project.
The deployment also includes:
2 self-propelled barges
10 tugboats
4 additional barges
This transshipment fleet enables seamless cargo transfers between large ocean-going vessels and smaller ships at sea, reducing reliance on port infrastructure and enhancing operational flexibility. The investment aligns with Winning’s vision of innovating mining logistics while ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
Building an End-to-End Mining Logistics Ecosystem in Guinea
As a core member of both the
SMB-WINNING CONSORTIUM and the
Winning Consortium Simandou, Winning International has been a longstanding player in Guinea’s mining sector.
