COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. Founded

On February 25, COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. was officially founded. Mr. Sun Wenkui, Vice Mayor of Tianjin Municipality, Capt. Xu Lirong, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING, Mr. Sun Jiakang, Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING, and Mr. Sun Yunfei, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of COSCO SHIPPING attended the opening ceremony and unveiled the nameplate for the new company.

Mr. Sun Wenkui, Capt. Xu Lirong, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin) Mr. Wang Guorong, and President of Global Container Refrigeration Mr. Lee Meng Huat respectively addressed the ceremony. Mr. Wang Ran, a member of the Board of Directors and President of COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin) presided over the ceremony.

Mr. Sun Wenkui said that the founding of COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin) is a key initiative of COSCO SHIPPING and Tianjin Municipality to jointly implement the major national strategy of coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province and the “1,000-year project” of developing Xiongan New Area. He added that the new company will elevate the sound cooperation between COSCO SHIPPING and Tianjin to a new height. In the future, Tianjin will support local companies, such as COSCO SHIPPING, to grow bigger and stronger in the city by continuing to offer quality services and creating a law-based international business environment.

Capt. Xu Lirong reviewed the years of cooperation and exchanges between COSCO SHIPPING and Tianjin and extended his gratitude to Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Government for supporting the development of COSCO SHIPPING locally. He said the founding of COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin) is an important step taken by COSCO SHIPPING Group to deepen reforms and accelerate the development of social services, as well as a concrete measure to improve its development strategy in China, especially in the areas north of the Yangtze River and to enhance its overall competitiveness. Based in Tianjin and extending to North China, COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin) will be a leader and key pillar of COSCO SHIPPING in social service development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. According to Capt. Xu, COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin) should be precise in positioning and seize the significant opportunity of coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province to expand into new business areas and foster new pillar industries. He also urged the company to carry forward the concept of “One Team, One Culture, One Goal, One Dream” and grow bigger, stronger and better through blazing new trails.
