Erasmus Shipinvest Group has made a bold move into the multipurpose vessel (
MPP) market with the successful launch and naming of its first-ever tween-deck MPP newbuild, the “Ocean Echo”, on January 17, 2025. The ceremony was held at the renowned Higaki Zosen Shipyard in Imabari, Japan, marking a new chapter in the company’s history.
This milestone signals the group’s strategic shift towards greater diversification, aligning with global trade transformations and challenges driven by geopolitical complexities and de-globalization trends.
Further more,to further strengthen its liner shipping capabilities, Erasmus Shipinvest Group has announced the establishment of a new subsidiary—— Erasmus Lines, which will focus on vessel ownership, management, and operations. The subsidiary will manage a versatile fleet of feeder container ships, general cargo vessels, and multipurpose ships, tailored to meet the demands of evolving trade routes.
Erasmus Shipinvest Group has been actively expanding its footprint across various shipping segments in recent years. Alongside its dry bulk shipping expertise, the company has ventured into LPG transportation and feeder container shipping, with notable acquisitions of 9 LPG carriers and 3 feeder ships last year. Additionally, two 11,000m³ pressurized gas carriers are under construction at Japan’s Kyokuyo Shipyard, scheduled for delivery in 2027.

This strategic fleet diversification underlines the company’s forward-looking approach to adapting to global shipping trends.
The launch of the Ocean Echo and the establishment of Erasmus Lines are strong indicators of Erasmus Shipinvest Group’s readiness to meet the challenges of a changing maritime landscape.
