10 Methanol Dual-Fuel Bulk Carriers: Fujian Guohang’s Green Commitment

Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping, China’s fourth-largest shipping company, has ordered 10 methanol dual-fuel 89,000 DWT bulk carriers from Wuhu Shipyard. The $364.8 million investment reinforces its commitment to sustainable shipping.

Wuhu Shipyard Orders
The first four vessels will be delivered between 2025 and 2026. Six additional options were exercised throughout 2024, culminating in all 10 ships confirmed within a year.

Additional Fleet Expansion
The company has also ordered 73,800 DWT bulk carriers from Jiangsu Haitong, with methanol dual-fuel systems reserved. Some have already been delivered, featuring smart ship technologies like energy efficiency monitoring and voyage safety systems.

Sustainability Focus
Fujian Guohang has invested nearly ¥44 billion (~$6 billion USD) in 20 new vessels over two years, aligning with China’s green and smart industrial goals. Methanol fuel is expected to play a significant role in domestic shipping applications.

Looking ahead, Fujian Guohang remains committed to advancing low-carbon, digital, and intelligent shipping solutions, contributing to the sustainable growth of China’s maritime industry.
