Implementing the "Cultivating Southeast Asia" Strategy, CMES Officially Establishes Southeast Asia Marketing Hub
On July 3, 2024, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) inaugurated its Southeast Asia Marketing Hub in Singapore, marking a significant milestone in implementing the "Cultivating Southeast Asia" strategy. This event underscores CMES's commitment to establishing a regional service network, enhancing its global operational capabilities, and striving to become a world-class shipping enterprise.
The inauguration ceremony and customer appreciation event saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including CMES General Manager Wang Yongxin, Counselor Kang Yiming from the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Deputy Director Kenneth Lim of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, President Tan Zhiyong of the Chinese Enterprises (Singapore) Association, General Manager Li Shaolin of PetroChina International (Singapore) Company, Chartering Manager Michelle Gonzalez from Vale, and General Manager Li Jun of the CMES Southeast Asia Marketing Hub.
Key executives from CMES, including Deputy General Manager Huang Maosheng, Deputy General Manager and General Manager of Sinotrans Container Liners Zhao Chunji, Assistant General Manager and General Manager of Ming Wah Hong Kong Zhang Jinti, along with representatives from various departments and subsidiaries, attended the event. Over 200 guests from government agencies, industry organizations, and enterprises across the trade, shipping, logistics, and financial sectors also joined to witness this significant occasion.
In response to the accelerating regionalization, localization, and diversification of global trade supply chains, CMES is proactively adjusting its international shipping operations and market strategies. The company aims to shorten supply chain links, enhance response times, and better serve customers by establishing a global marketing network. The Southeast Asia Marketing Hub in Singapore will serve as a regional hub, focusing on key markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and India. This initiative will support CMES's fleet marketing efforts, develop and maintain regional clients, and enhance the company's brand influence in Southeast Asia.
Founded in 2004 and listed on the A-shares in 2006, CMES is a leading ocean transportation enterprise under China Merchants Group. The company has developed a comprehensive business portfolio, including oil, gas, dry bulk, roll-on/roll-off (RORO), and container shipping.
