PANASIA Shipping Provides Container Shipping Service for Transportation of Polycarbonate

Recently, the first batch of polycarbonate made by SINOPEC SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical Co. Ltd. (SSTPC) was containerized and shipped by PANASIA Shipping, a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Lines, from Tianjin Xingang. It was the first time that polycarbonate was transported through container shipping in China.
 

As an important engineering plastic commonly known as PC, polycarbonate is mainly used in construction, automotive manufacturing, medical equipment, aerospace, high-end packaging, electronics industry, and optical lenses. The application of polycarbonate has a broad prospect thanks to its flame retardance, inoxidizability, high wearability, and high hardness.

As the first polycarbonate producer in China, SSTPC owns two production lines with an annual capacity of 130,000 tons. Moreover, its “polycarbonate project” is also a key part of the national effort to build a green high-end Bohai New Material Industry Base during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

In the past, polycarbonate was usually transported by trucks and trains. This time, PANASIA Shipping tried to break the existing transportation bottleneck and provided an effective supplement to the supply chain logistics of SSTPC through container shipping.

Mainly shipped in small containers with the use of a certain number of large containers, polycarbonate produced under the project was largely shipped to Chongqing, Shanghai and Nansha. PANASIA Shipping, together with its client, customized a whole-process end-to-end logistics solution. Through close communication with SSTPC, the company provided thoughtful service in multiple logistics links including bagging, containerization time arrangement, vehicle arrangement and railroad and truck delivery. It also provided the customer with two transportation modes, i.e., all water transportation and transportation through the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, for the cargo flowing into Chongqing, so as to avoid the impact of dry season on transportation and ensure the timeliness of logistics.
