COSCO SHIPPING Delivers the First Batch of Chilled Pork Purchased by COFCO from Canada to Shanghai

On March 28, the first batch of chilled pork purchased by COFCO from Canada was delivered to Yangshan Port, Shanghai by M.V. Xin Los Angeles owned by COSCO SHIPPING. With a total weight of 100 tons, the pork will be supplied directly to Wuhan. To shorten the “plant to table” period, COSCO SHIPPING Lines provided a one-stop service from Vancouver to Yangshan Port and completed the shipping process in only 14 days. On March 29, the pork was on its way to Wuhan and will be available in the market as soon as possible.

 

To ensure supply, stabilize prices, expand domestic demand and improve people’s livelihood, COSCO SHIPPING and COFCO, two central SOEs, have jointly established a global fresh food supply chain through global sourcing and transshipment to help guarantee the living standards of Wuhan residents. The pork was purchased from the southern Canadian province of Manitoba, one of the most important pork production and processing areas in all the North America. Through strict refrigerated shipping procedures, the pork had crossed half of Canada and the Pacific Ocean before arriving at Yangshan Port and would provide strong material support for Wuhan’s resumption of work and economic recovery.
