Nanjing Tanker Corporation Plans to Build 2 New LR2 Product/Crude Oil Tankers Xinde Marine News Chen Yang 2025-08-15 17:13



Nanjing Tanker Corporation, a subsidiary of China Changjiang National Shipping Group(Belong to China Merchant Group), has announced its intention to build 2 new LR2 product/crude oil tankers as part of its strategic fleet expansion. This second procurement is a significant step in strengthening the company's capabilities in the global energy transportation sector.

These new vessels will enhance the efficiency and environmental performance of Nanjing Tanker Corporation’s fleet, aligning with the latest international regulations for fuel efficiency and sustainability. The LR2 class tankers, renowned for their versatility and high transport capacity, will be pivotal in meeting the growing global demand for energy transport.

Three shipyards competed for this project, with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. securing the top spot, followed by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd..

This move reflects Nanjing Tanker Corporation’s commitment to advancing its fleet while staying ahead of the curve in terms of environmental standards and operational excellence. With these new vessels, the company will not only bolster its position in the energy shipping market but also contribute to the ongoing green transformation of the global shipping industry.
