COSCO Shipping Holdings and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry officially signed a contract for the upgrading of two 13,800 TEU and two 20,000 TEU existing methanol-powered dual fuel container vessels. This is the world’s first dual fuel upgrading project involving both of MAN marine engine and Wartsila’s auxiliary engine.

Upon completion of the retrofit of the four vessels, the greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by about 360,000 tons per year. The implementation of this project not only provides an optional path for the green and low-carbon transformation and development of the company's fleet, but also extends the operating life of the existing fleet and realizes fuel flexibility.
