On April 30, SUMEC Marine, a subsidiary of SUMEC Corporation, signed a newbuilding contract with Japanese shipowner Kasuga Kaiun for two Crown 63 PLUS bulk carriers at New Dayang Shipyard.

This marks a renewed partnership between the two sides after a one-year interval and once again highlights the global appeal of SUMEC’s Crown series—recognized for their efficiency, environmental compliance, and market-proven performance.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Toshiyuki Akase, President of Kasuga Kaiun, expressed his appreciation for the strong support from SUMEC and reaffirmed the company's confidence in continuing the long-term cooperation. SUMEC Marine’s Chairman Mr. He Jun emphasized that despite the current geopolitical and regulatory uncertainties, the strategic trust between the two parties demonstrates their shared confidence in the future of shipping.

Earlier reports by Xinde Marine News have highlighted SUMEC Marine’s expanding global footprint, including the successful delivery of methanol dual-fuel feeder vessels to X-Press Feeders and new orders from European owners. This latest contract further reinforces SUMEC’s strength in delivering green, smart, and future-ready ship designs.
