Jiangxi Xinjiangzhou Shipyard: A Phoenix Reborn in China's Shipbuilding Industry Xinde Marine News Pang Kai 2024-10-11 08:41

After being revitalized in March 2023 through a joint venture by Qinshi Group and Yangzijiang Financial Holding, Jiangxi Xinjiangzhou Shipyard, formerly Jiangzhou United Shipbuilding, has quickly regained its position as a major player in the shipbuilding sector. With a registered capital of RMB 50 million, the shipyard began securing new contracts in December 2023, marking its comeback.

Recent Milestones:
New Contracts: The yard secured its first contracts for 2+2 13,800 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers with Alita (Shanghai) International Shipping and 2+2 8,300 DWT shallow draft bulk carriers with Yangzijiang Financial Holding.
New Client Breakthrough: On September 30, 2024, OM Maritime (Singapore) placed its first-ever shipbuilding order at Jiangxi Xinjiangzhou for two 13,800 DWT duplex stainless steel chemical tankers. These vessels will feature 12 stainless steel cargo tanks, with the first ship scheduled for delivery in Q4 2026 and the second shortly thereafter.

Additional Orders: Received orders from Mercurius Shipping (Netherlands) for four stainless steel chemical tankers and Candler Schiffahrt (Germany) for six multipurpose cargo ships.
April 2024 Breakthrough: Signed a significant RMB 15 billion deal for eight 6,800 DWT methanol dual-fuel chemical tankers with MH Simonsen (Denmark).

Achievements:
These projects have set five records in Jiangxi's shipbuilding industry:
Largest single shipbuilding export order
First methanol dual-fuel ship order
Largest stainless steel ship manufacturing base
First electric propulsion international freight vessel
First shipyard in Jiangxi to achieve certification from all major international classification societies (DNV, BV, ABS, LR, CCS)
With a target of RMB 3 billion in orders for 2023, the shipyard has already surpassed RMB 4 billion in the first half of the year. According to Clarksons Research, the yard currently holds 16 vessel orders, totaling 142,460 DWT, with deliveries scheduled between 2024 and 2026.

Jiangxi Xinjiangzhou is not just back—it's setting new benchmarks in China’s shipbuilding industry.
