Ningbo ports' imports, exports top 2t yuan in 2021 Chinadaily 2022-01-27 09:49


Imports and exports at Ningbo ports in East China's Zhejiang province amounted to 2.05 trillion yuan ($315.38 billion) in 2021, up 23.7 percent year-on-year, according to Ningbo Customs.
 
Specifically, exports stood at 1.46 trillion yuan, an uptick of 20.4 percent, while imports expanded 32.7 percent to 589.97 billion yuan.
 
Last December, the city's imports and exports were valued at 189 billion yuan, a rise of 23.5 percent year-on-year.
 
Private companies remained the key driving force in stabilizing foreign trade.
 
Last year, the import and export volume of private companies stood at 1.44 trillion yuan, rising by 24 percent and accounting for 71 percent of the total recorded at Ningbo ports.
 
In addition, foreign-funded enterprises' foreign trade volume via the ports expanded 19.1 percent to 330.62 billion yuan.
 
The top three trading partners with the city's ports in the previous year were the European Union, the United States, and ASEAN.
 
Their trading volumes with these economies were valued at 366.56 billion yuan, 363.58 billion yuan, and 201.67 billion yuan respectively, up 31.2 percent, 22.9 percent and 18.8 percent, and accounting for 45.5 percent of the total recorded at Ningbo ports.
 
In addition, trade with countries involved in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) rose 18.5 percent to 424.41 billion yuan.
 
The foreign trade value of companies in Ningbo stood at 819.23 billion yuan, an increase of 21.6 percent, while the figure for non-local companies via the city's ports hit 1.23 trillion yuan, up 25.1 percent and making up nearly 60 percent of the total.
 
Exports via Ningbo's ports over the period were primarily mechanical and electrical products, labor intensive products and high-tech products.
 
Imports of resource commodities including oil, nonferrous metals and basic organic chemicals saw notable growth.
