SDIC, Huaneng Caofeidian ports cut lump-sum charges xinde marine news 2019-05-23 15:10

SDIC and Huaneng Caofeidian ports announced to lower lump-sum charges on May 22, said their operators in notices released on May 21.

The two ports both cut lump-sum charges by 2 yuan/t to 16.5 yuan/t, effective 0:00 on May 22, according to the notices.

The moves came as coal sales and shipments slowed down significantly at northern ports amid a lack of buying appetite in domestic coal market.

The charge cut is in response to rail freight rate cuts and also expected to attract vessels and coal shipment interest in such a lackluster market.

Data from sxcoal.com showed coal stockpiles at SDIC Caofeidian port hit a five-month high of 5.1 million tonnes on May 22 since December 27 last year.

Huaneng Caofeidian port also saw coal inventory reach a new high of 1.91 million tonnes on May 21 after last peak in mid-December of 2018.
