Huanghua port saw coal handling target for first half of this year achieved one day ahead of schedule, said Hebei Provincial government.

The port had handled a total 99.52 million tonnes of coal as of June 29, and the figure rose above 100 million tonnes by June 30, exceeding the targeted volume by 1 million tonnes or so.

Authorities of the port have stepped up efforts to reduce waiting time for vessels through improving waiting strategies and enhancing vessel turnover efficiency since this year.

As of July 9, coal stockpiles totaled 1.77 million tonnes at Huanghua port, rising 10.7% from a week ago and up 15.7% from the year-ago level, showed data from sxcoal.com.

On the same day, 8,062 rail wagons of cargoes, totaling 620,000 tonnes, were unloaded at the port, a significant rise from 7,497 wagons a week earlier.

There were 36 vessels waiting for coal loading on the same day, down from 38 ships a week ago.
