Australia earned A$11.48 billion ($7.55 billion) in December from coal exports, surging 35.61% from a year ago and up 0.39% on the month, showed data from Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The value of coal exports to Japan was A$5.35 billion, falling 7.3% year on year but jumping 95.93% month on month, taking up 47% of the total, and the value of coal shipped to India fell 9.86% year on year but grew 7.86% month on month to A$1.56 billion.
Coal exports to South Korea were worth A$1.56 billion, up 34.04% from November but down 1.81% from a year ago, and that to China's Taiwan and Vietnam respectively came in at A$0.94 billion (+36.13% MoM, +68.69% YoY) and A$0.31 billion (-12.95% MoM, -42.51% YoY).
Australia's total coal export value was A$141.63 billion in 2022, soaring 123.02% from 2021.
