Geely’s First Ro-Ro Ship Sets Sail — Marking a New Era of Automotive Logistics Xinde Marine News Pang Kai 2025-05-27 08:36

On May 22, 2025, JISU FORTUNE, the first self-operated car carrier by GEELY 's logistics arm Jisulog, officially set sail from Suzhou Taicang Port. The 7,000-CEU LNG dual-fuel vessel is transporting over 5,000 vehicles to the UK, Netherlands, and Belgium — a milestone that signifies Geely's leap from “Made in China” to “Shipped by China.”

Yet, behind this historic voyage lies a story of smart globalization. Built by Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. in Longkou and owned by UK-based Zodiac Maritime, JISU FORTUNE is operated by Zodiac and chartered by Geely under a long-term lease — a model already pioneered by BYD for its own export fleet.

The vessel itself is tailor-made for new energy vehicles (NEVs), with 12 decks including 4 adjustable ones, dual 2,000 m³ LNG tanks, and safety zones specially designed for electric and hydrogen cars. It represents the latest in green maritime transport technology.

Geely joins a growing wave of Chinese automakers taking control of their global logistics. From BYD’s green fleet of self-built PCTCs to the JAC-Chery joint venture AICC’s launch of LNG-fueled carriers, the trend is clear: China’s automakers are no longer waiting for shipping space. They’re building, leasing, and operating their own.

This is not just a ship — it’s a declaration of control, efficiency, and global ambition.
