Arkas Holding Expands Fleet with Another Order at China State Shipbuilding’s Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard Xinde Marine News Pang Kai 2025-05-22 08:28

In a continued show of confidence, Turkey’s largest container shipowner Arkas Holding has returned to CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. Shipyard with an order for 4+2 3,100 TEU feeder containerships, each priced at approximately $50 million. If the optional vessels are confirmed, the total order value will reach $300 million, with deliveries expected in 2028.

This brings Arkas Holding’s total orders at Huangpu Wenchong to 12 vessels (including options) worth an impressive $660 million – marking its most significant fleet renewal push since 2016.

This new order follows the group’s landmark deal in 2024 for six 4,300 TEU eco-designed container vessels from the same yard. These ships—built with green efficiency in mind—are part of Arkas Line’s broader strategy to upgrade its fleet and reinforce its competitive position across Mediterranean, Black Sea, West Africa, and Red Sea trades.

Huangpu Wenchong is the global leader in feeder containership construction.

This deal cements a growing partnership built on quality, trust, and innovation.

For Arkas, it strengthens long-term sustainability and cost-efficiency.

For CSSC, it reinforces China’s role as a premier shipbuilding powerhouse, with over 100 vessels on order, half of which are feeders.

As global demand for efficient, regional vessels rises amid supply chain shifts, such strategic collaborations between leading shipowners and top-tier builders are shaping the next phase of maritime logistics.

Arkas Line currently operates 49 container ships and ranks 34th globally according to Alphaliner.
