World’s Largest LNG Dual-Fuel Container Ship Triumphs in Sea Trials! xinde marine news Chen Yang 2025-03-12 08:51

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has made maritime history by successfully completing the “two-in-one” sea trials of the world’s largest 24,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel ultra-large container ship—a groundbreaking leap in sustainable shipping!

Unmatched Scale:
Length: 399 meters (longer than 4 soccer fields!)
Capacity: 23,872 containers (including 2,200 refrigerated units)
Cargo Power: 220,000-ton payload, stacking containers 24 layers high (equivalent to a 22-story skyscraper)!

Green Innovation:
Upgraded LNG dual-fuel technology reduces CO₂ emissions by over 20% compared to conventional fuels.
Dubbed the “Eco Titan” and “Ultimate Cargo King,” it sets a new benchmark for eco-friendly mega-vessels.
Sea Trial Heroics:

Battling Beaufort Scale 9+ Winds, the team:
Prioritized critical tests: main engine fuel trials, speed measurement, anchoring, and hull performance under extreme conditions.
Achieved first-time success in all gas-related systems, autonomous engine room tests, and performance metrics.
Earned high praise from CMA CGM Group and classification societies for flawless execution.

Bigger Impact:
As the lead vessel in CMA CGM’s 4-ship order, this milestone:
Demonstrates China’s leadership in green shipbuilding.
Accelerates the industry’s shift toward cleaner fuels without compromising efficiency.

Paves the way for 3 additional 24,000 TEU vessels under construction.
