On October 15, 2024, Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, signed a significant contract with Taiping & Sinopec Financial Leasing and Sinopec Fuel Oil for the construction of two 49,900 DWT eco-friendly product oil tankers.

This project, the first cross-border ship leasing project in Northeast China, will play a major role in driving international and domestic industrial integration and supporting the region’s economic revitalization.

The 49,900 DWT MR-type tankers are designed for global operations and feature SCR systems to meet NOx Tier III emissions standards. These vessels also include USCG and IMO D-2 certified ballast water treatment systems, and are built with EEDI Phase III compliance. Designed as green ships, they meet the highest environmental standards and will be registered under China Classification Society.

Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has previously delivered the “Yuanjinghe” and “Yuanyuhe” series of this kind vessel, ensuring high-quality results and on-time deliveries.

Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry believes that the new project marks a significant step forward for both the shipping industry and the revitalization of Northeast China, particularly for Dalian’s continued development as a key maritime hub.
