According to Xinde Marine News, sourced from Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard, MSC has placed an order for twelve 19,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships with Changhong International Shipyard. This new order builds on their successful collaboration on ten 11,500 TEU and ten 10,300 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships, highlighting a significant advancement in the construction of ultra-large dual-fuel container ships.
Additionally, it has been reported that MSC has recently signed contracts with Jiangsu Hantong Shipyard for ten 21,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships, with deliveries expected between late 2027 and 2028.
MSC has also placed orders with Rongsheng Heavy Industries for a series of 12,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships.
In related news, Maersk has announced plans to order 50-60 LNG dual-fuel container ships totaling 800,000 TEU, which are expected to be delivered by 2030.
Furthermore, Hapag-Lloyd is reportedly seeking to order 30 container ships.
