Surge in Recent New Ship Orders at Chinese Shipyards xinde marine news 2024-06-17 15:57

On 14th June, China State Shipbuilding Corporation's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd., in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., signed a contract with Germany's Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG for the construction of four 14,000 TEU methanol-ready large container ships.

This reflects a recent trend in the industry where multiple shipping companies are placing orders for new container ships.

Previously, the industry was concerned about an oversupply of capacity due to the large number of new ship orders during the pandemic. However, there seems to be a significant shift in market sentiment recently. Market participants are now more optimistic about the future, leading to a surge in activity in the container ship newbuilding market.
