Seacon Shipping Adds a New Vessel, Reaches 30-Ship Milestone! xinde marine news 2024-06-07 17:26

Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited welcomed a new Kamsarmax bulk carrier, increasing its fleet size to 30 ships. This newbuild project marks the first collaboration between Seacon Shipping and Bank of China Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (BOCFL) and also represents BOCFL's inaugural newbuild project.


At the naming and delivery ceremony held at Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Inc. (Tsuneishi Zhoushan)., the vessel, named "SEACON ANTWERP," was christened by Ms. Zhang Xinhong, General Manager of the Finance Department, BOCFL.
 
 

Designed and built by Tsuneishi Zhoushan, "SEACON ANTWERP" boasts unique hull designs and fuel efficiency technologies, significantly enhancing performance and economics. It complies with EEDI Phase 3 regulations and offers a 31% reduction in fuel consumption per ton-mile compared to the first Kamsarmax delivered by Tsuneishi in 2005. Equipped with eco-friendly technologies, it effectively mitigates nitrogen and sulfur oxide emissions and prevents oil spills.
 
With the addition of this vessel, Seacon Shipping's controlled fleet now totals 30 ships with a combined capacity of 1.45 million DWT. The company also has 21 new ships under construction, adding 740,000 DWT.

This newbuild project signifies the first collaboration between Seacon Shipping and BOCFL, marking a positive start for BOCFL in partnering with renowned international shipowners, shipyards, and ship types. BOCFL, the only ship finance leasing platform under the Bank of China, is dedicated to supporting the renewal of transportation equipment and promoting the development of new energy and green energy-efficient ships, contributing to the nation's dual carbon strategy.
