SWS delivered two 7000TEU container vessels SWS 2023-06-30 10:49

SWS, a subsidiary of CSSC, successfully delivered two 7000TEU container vessels named "Pelion" and "X-PRESS CAPELLA" recently. The delivery of these two ships demonstrates SWS ability to overcome difficulties of new shipping products, and improves its product structure for large and medium-sized container vessels, covering the size from 7000TEU to over 20000TEU Vessel.

Both of "PELION" and "X-PRESS CAPELLA" are equipped with 800 reefer containers and Open-Type Seawater Scrubbers. This ship type follows environmentally-friendly design concept, committed to carbon and air pollutant emissions reduction, meeting the latest EEDI Ⅲ and Tier Ⅲ requirements.

SWS and CONTAINER VESSEL

As the first Chinese shipbuilding company to enter the field of ultra-large container vessel (ULCV) construction, SWS undertook the construction contract for the 18000TEU ULCV of the French CMA CGM Group, and accomplished the construction and delivery. This was also the first time for China to build ULCV, breaking the monopoly of South Korean shipbuilding companies in this field.

In 2020, with its keen sense of changes in the new shipbuilding segment market, SWS resolutely decided to enter the 7000TEU container vessel sub-segment market after a comprehensive evaluation. SWS further enriched and strengthened its merchant vessel products, and improved its overall competitiveness. SWS has already pocketed 34 orders for medium-sized container vessels, ranking among the top in the global sub-segment market.

Fully master the essence of building medium-size container vessels

In the construction process of the new 7000TEU container vessels, SWS actively explored lean production mode, accelerating the integration of new-generation information technology and advanced manufacturing technology, continuously improving the informatization, digitalization, and intelligence level, enhancing operational efficiency, comprehensively shaping new development advantages, and successfully achieved the mass and assembly production of the new-generation branded ships.

Product research and development ongoing

SWS has always adhered to the development concept of green, energy-saving, low-carbon, and environmental protection. Based on the product development strategy of “producing one generation, developing a new one, and reserving another one,” SWS developed dual-fuel ship types in advance and formed a set of independent development and design core capabilities of large-scale dual-fuel ship.

In response to customers’ increasingly urgent demands for decarbonization and emission reduction, SWS has reserved a series of medium- sized to large-sized container vessel product designs for alternative fuel solutions based on the construction experience of various size of container vessels and continuous research on dual-fuel technology. These designs include LNG dual-fuel power 9200TEU (Type B tanks) container vessel, methanol dual-fuel power 14000TEU container vessel, methanol/LNG dual-fuel power 8800TEU container vessel, and so on. Facing market changes, SWS focuses on customers, constantly innovating and developing customized green and high-quality ship products that meet market needs.
